Litigation to Enforce Parental Opt-Out Rights in Michigan Dept of Education and Grosse Pointe School District

This project initiates litigation against the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) and Grosse Pointe School District (GPSD) to enforce the parental right to opt-out their children from curriculum deemed objectionable, based on the precedent set by the US Supreme Court in Mahmoud v. Taylor (2025). This action is crucial to uphold constitutional parental rights, ensure local control in education, and secure a judicial remedy for the alleged violation of established legal standards by the MDE and GPSD in denying parental opt-out requests.

Defending Medical Freedom and Bodily Autonomy

The project seeks to support litigation to support bodily autonomy and promote medical freedom. Bodily autonomy is the fundamental right of individuals to make their own decisions about their bodies and futures without coercion or external interference. Medical freedom is a specific application of bodily autonomy in the context of healthcare. It is the belief that individuals should have the right to make their own healthcare decisions without government interference or mandates.

Save Precious Metals Bullion and Coins Free

Tom Styczinski, along with other in-state and out-of-state precious metal traders and their representatives, has been engaged in a legal battle against Minnesota Statutes Chapter 80G, which regulates bullion transactions. His goal is to have the law struck down in its entirety, arguing that it violates the dormant Commerce Clause by over-regulating the free trade of precious metals bullion and coins.

No Columbia Wind

The No Columbia Wind project assists local landowners in educating public officials about a proposed windfarm’s impacts on property values, public health and safety. The education is focused on opportunities through local government and the courts to minimize the negative impacts of the project. If necessary, the project will also involve litigation to minimize the negative impacts–including stopping the project altogether.

The U.S. Department of Education's final rule under Title IX expands the prohibition on sex discrimination to include sexual orientation and gender identity, sparking at least nine lawsuits with 26 states involved, and GEI's private lawsuit in Michigan is the first such challenge in a state with no other lawsuits against the rule.

Project Poster Michigan Electors Civil Rights Lawsuit.png

Michigan Electors Civil Rights Lawsuit

This legal project supports a 42 U.S.C. § 1983 civil rights lawsuit filed by the 2020 Michigan Republican electors against Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and Special Agent Howard Shock. The lawsuit alleges that the defendants initiated a bad-faith, politically motivated criminal prosecution against the electors in retaliation for their exercise of protected First Amendment rights. The project seeks to hold these officials individually accountable for malicious prosecution, vindicate the electors' constitutional rights, and secure damages for the harm caused by the baseless felony charges, which have since been dismissed by a state court.

Save Farm Occupation

This legal project is aimed at establishing a "fundamental right to pursue the occupation of farming" at the U.S. Supreme Court. While all fifty U.S. states have "Right-to-Farm" laws, these laws primarily protect existing agricultural operations from nuisance lawsuits (e.g., complaints about odors or noise from new neighbors). These state laws do not establish a fundamental constitutional right to pursue or enter the farming occupation. Despite the U.S. Supreme Court acknowledging a "generalized due process right to choose one's field of private employment" under the Fourteenth Amendment's Due Process Clause, a recent U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit ruling (July 2025) concerning Minnesota deer farmers explicitly stated that "The liberty to pursue one's chosen occupation is not a fundamental right" in the context of challenging new restrictions on a person pursuing or entering the deer farming occupation.

Lake Pepin Reservation Project

The lawsuit argues that the U.S. government violated its trust obligations to the Sioux Half-Breed lineal descendants of the Lake Pepin Reservation, which was established by the 1830 Treaty of Prairie du Chien and 1854 and 1858 Congressional Acts. Currently, the United States does not recognize the Sioux Half Breed lineal descendants as Indians and does not recognize the Lake Pepin reservation or its boundaries. The lawsuit calls for a paradigm shift in the government’s treatment of Sioux Half-Breed lineal descendants.

Viewpoint Neutrality Now! v. University of Minnesota

This lawsuit challenges the university's exclusive leasing of nine student lounges to specific student organizations, arguing that it constitutes status discrimination, a claim the U.S. Supreme Court has not yet recognized, and proposes extending its viewpoint discrimination rulings to include status-based claims.
